AMOR attended the VI edition of the Environmental Fair, sponsored by the Environment Fund (FUNAB), inserted in the celebration of the 20th birthday of the Ministry for Coordination of Environmental Action ( MICOA ) in partnership with the City Council of the City of Tete. The Fair took place between the 3rd of April and 5th of April 2014 in the city of Tete – Mozambique, under the motto : ” Technological solutions towards a green economy ”
Several organizations such as NGOs, companies, universities from the provinces of Maputo, Inhambane, Sofala, Tete , Zambezia, Nampula attended the Fair, where different activities were held about the motto with a view to promote sustainable development (art and recycling workshops, debates , traditional dances, lectures).
AMOR participated with a stand with charcoal briquettes, bags for waste separation, and a permanent recycling workshop, among other things. The biggest attraction of the stand, however, was the biodiesel machine (that turns used cooking oil into biodiesel), arousing much public interest. In Maputo, AMOR already turns over 200L of waste oils into biodiesel each week and uses the biodiesel in its vehicles. Another machine is to be installed in Vilanculos whereas the machine shown at the Environment Fair remains in Tete.
AMOR also introduces to the public a lecture about Waste Transfer and Recycling Centers, in order to expand the challenges and solutions for the treatment of municipal waste and recycle as much as possible to ensure the preservation of the environment and the creation of green jobs.
