As part of the World Cleanup Day celebrations, which are celebrated on September 20th, the city of Pemba, in Cabo Delgado, held a significant environmental event. The event brought together civil society organizations, local authorities, and cooperation partners to promote ecological awareness and highlight the importance of the circular economy.
The activity took place along the coast of Praia do Inus, in front of the Provincial House of Culture. Throughout the day, hundreds of volunteers participated in a community cleanup campaign, recycling collection drives, and an exhibition of items made from recycled materials and scientific products. The initiative showcased the potential of the circular economy in the region.
The program also included cultural and educational activities such as lectures, poetry, theater, dance, capoeira, and a beach soccer tournament. The event concluded with an awards ceremony and an exhibition fair.
The Governor of Cabo Delgado Province, Valige Tauabo, representatives of the municipality, and other local authorities were present and reinforced their commitment to environmental preservation. The ceremony highlighted the role of civil society organizations and partners in promoting environmental education and proper waste management.
