The Mozambique Coastal Waste Resilience Project (RRCM) concluded this Friday in Katembe, Maputo.
The initiative, which aimed to promote the sustainable management of solid waste in coastal areas, has thus come to an end after the completion of its main activities and established goals.
The project, implemented by the Mozambican Recycling Association (AMOR), had the support of various institutional and community partners, contributing significantly to strengthening environmental awareness, reducing marine pollution, and promoting the circular economy in coastal communities.
During the implementation period, the RRCM developed awareness and environmental education activities, training for community agents, waste collection and recycling, as well as coastal cleanup campaigns in different parts of Maputo Bay.
These activities involved young people, fishermen, schools, and local authorities, creating a collaborative network for the preservation of the marine environment. In closing, participants highlighted the project’s positive impact on improving waste management practices and advocated for the continuation of similar initiatives that strengthen the environmental resilience of Mozambique’s coastal communities.
