The Coastal Waste Resilience in Mozambique project aims to strengthen Civil Society Organizations to remove 1,000 tons of marine litter from the coastal areas of the municipalities of Pemba, Mocimboa da Praia, Beira, Vilankulo, Inhambane, and Maputo. The initiative combines capacity building, technology (KOLEKT), waste collection campaigns, payments for collected waste, and the implementation of the Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) certification. As outcomes, it seeks to improve waste management, protect coastal ecosystems, restore mangroves, generate income, and establish the foundations for a local circular economy.
