The Matutuíne Limpo Project aims to reduce marine and coastal pollution in the Maputo Environmental Protection Area (Matutuíne) by promoting a circular economy, environmental education, and community engagement. The initiative involves cleanup campaigns, the use of the KOLEKT app for waste valorization, and capacity building for the communities of Ponta do Ouro, Ponta Mamoli, and Ponta Malongane. The project expects to improve coastal environmental quality, strengthen climate resilience, and generate socio-economic benefits for approximately 2,800 people.
Goals
Clean up the coastal area of the Matutuíne Environmental Protection Area (APA) by mitigating marine pollution, protecting ecosystems, and promoting sustainable development.
Remove 100 tons of waste from the coastal zone.
