During December it was held the following activity:
As part of the Citizens’ Friends of the Environment project, funded by the European Union, AMOR inaugurated an Ecological Christmas tree on 07 December in Beira. The event was held at the “Praça dos Continuadores”, where the tree was installed, and was attended by the Director of Health of the Municipal Council of Beira, a representative of the Provincial Directorate of Education and an Agronomist in representation of the Vereing of Agriculture and Gardening .
AMOR counted on the contribution of institutions such as Beiranave, Maisha Health Club, and CAM – Consórcio Associações com Moçambique, enabling the collection of the bottles for the assembly of the tree.
The tree was made with approximately 5000 PET plastic bottles of 1.5L, as a means of sensitizing the population to reinforce efforts in favor of environmental preservation, and also show that by combining waste with creativity, one can obtain visually splendid and ecological results acceptable. The event was an occasion to inform that there are in Beira several Ecopoints to purchase recyclable material such as plastic bottles, cans or hard plastic, where people can sell the waste so that they do not throw to the ground and pollute our environment
