Summary of Activities – February – Beira
The Mozambican Recycling Association started in January with activities related to the Citizens Friendly of the Environment project, funded by the European Union, in partnership with the Municipal Council of the City of Beira. During February, the following activities were carried out:
- Meeting with School Directors and Focal Points
On February 14th AMOR held its first meeting for the year 2020 with the Directors and Focal Points of the partner schools of the project, with the aim of making the presentation of the project, the presentation of the activities for the year 2019 and those planned for the year 2020.
This meeting was attended by 18 school representatives, with only the school representatives Samora Machel, Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Matadouro and João XXIII absent. The meeting also served to announce the start of activities in schools with students, the first of which was the revitalization of the Environment and Citizenship Clubs.
With the completion of the installation of school ecopoints in 13 schools, the first commitment for 2020 with primary and secondary schools was concluded. The first meeting with the principals also marked the beginning of activities in schools with the Environment and Citizenship Clubs.
2. Revitalization of the Environment and Citizenship Clubs
After the first meeting with the Directors and Focal Points of the primary and secondary schools covered by the Citizens Friendly of the Environment project, the Mozambican Recycling Association started with the process of revitalizing the Environment and Citizenship clubs in schools.
The process consisted of reorganizing the groups of 30 students per school, re-selecting them in schools where some of the students were no longer members of them. Having made the selection and organization of these groups, students democratically make the selection of their 3 representatives, responsible for leading and responding for each Club of Environment and Citizenship in schools.
