During October, the following activities were held in Beira:
On October 18, 2018, AMOR participated in the Horizont 3000 Exchange Fair, at the Catholic University of Mozambique in Beira. It was an exchange of experiences for the reinforcement of the networks in the areas of Recycling, good governance and education. AMOR was responsible for the animation of the table dedicated to the theme of recycling. In a very positive conversation, the first part of the workshop was devoted to fund-raising and the second part to strengthening the network of institutions working to improve solid waste management and promote recycling. The workshop closed with the decision to reactivate the Sofala GRSU group created by AMOR in 2017 to facilitate the creation of synergies and optimize the impact of the activities carried out.
On October 30, AMOR was invited to participate in a coordination meeting between 7 associations that clean and maintain the drainage ditches of the city of Beira and the autonomous sanitation services through a contract established with the municipal council (CMB).
In this meeting, the associations were distributed (12 scavengers and 47 rakes) and then the date was set for the cleaning of the trenches (03/11). In this meeting, from the environment “to the associations (in particular the component of sensitization along the drainage ditches).
After the meeting, SASB undertook to provide the section where each of the associations operate and, on the other hand, AMOR undertook to provide a list of the community ecopoints, where each association could sell recyclable material that it collects in the ditches drainage.
