World Cleanup Day – Beira

On September 21st, the Mozambican Recycling Association and Let’s Do It movement held a cleansing day at “Praia dos Veleiros” in Beira city. The event was attended by around 1200 people, of which 700 were directly mobilized. by the Mozambican Association of Recycling, participants who at the end of cleaning collected around 6,000 KG of waste between Glass, Plastic, Cardboard and Ordinary Waste.

Of the different types, Plastic and Glass were the most abundant in the collection.
The collected waste was all properly directed to the entities that manage it, namely TERRA NOVA and Beira Municipal Council.

In addition to cleaning on the beach, pupils from the elementary and secondary schools who are part of the European Union-funded Citizens’ Environment project exhibited products made from recycled materials as a way to raise awareness of the people in that place. can give new life to waste and in the process improve waste management.
