The Pedagogical University of Maputo hosted, on Wednesday, October 29th, a meeting between Mozambique and France, within the framework of the 10th edition of the “Our Sea” event, an initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation for the preservation of the oceans and sustainable development.
Among the main highlights was the PISCCA Project, focusing on coastal awareness activities carried out in Ponta de Ouro, within the scope of the Fisherman-Gatherer Project, implemented by the Mozambican Recycling Association (AMOR).
On this occasion, AMOR received particular recognition for its role in the collection and transformation of marine waste, demonstrating the potential of the circular economy in environmental conservation.
The program also included cultural moments featuring Jafeca Libertação, the UP Cultural Group and Silke, as well as a round table dedicated to presenting the results of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference, held in Nice. Photographic exhibitions and the inauguration of a fresco alluding to marine biodiversity, conceived by the artist Ardeskhi, complemented the program.
With the presence of representatives from the public sector, academia, civil society, international organizations, the private sector, and youth, the meeting was widely recognized as a landmark for reflection and joint commitment to the protection of the oceans and the strengthening of the blue economy in Mozambique.
