As part of the Environmentally Friendly Citizens project implemented by AMOR – Mozambican Recycling Association and financed by the European Union, AMOR has been installing several recycling bins in the city of Beira, with a view to reducing the amount of waste and contributing to the sustainable development of Country.
In the image that follows, get to know the recycling bin located in Munhava Matope neighborhood, close to the municipal landfill (dumpster). In this ecopoint, the population has the opportunity to sell recyclable waste such as PET plastic bottles (mineral water and soft drinks), aluminium and HDP (oil drums and broken basins).
There are also seven community recycling points, namely: ADEMO, ADSC, AMACO, AJUCRE, CERECIDE, OCDESP and OJOLISC, located in the Community Development Centers, in a partnership between AMOR and seven Community Based Organizations, where residents have the opportunity to sell their recyclable waste.
As well as 13 school recycling points, of which Three Primary (Palmeiras, Longo Alcance and Jorge José Traquino) and Ten Secondary (Estoril, João XXIII, Manga, Matadouro, Mateus Sansão Mutemba, Marrocanhe, Nossa Senhora da Fátima, Ponta-Gêa, Muchatazina and 25 de Setembro), which is a metallic structure that allows the disposal of waste in a separate and orderly manner in the school premises.
