[barre]Waste pickers are autonomous workers responsible for a large part of the selective collection of recyclable materials, but even though they help to keep the cities cleaner and contribute to the recycling chain, these professionals are not paid by most municipalities.
In this sense, in Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina, this reality gained a new contour with the beginning of payment in cash for the sorting of recyclables to cooperatives and associations of collectors in the city.
