During the month of April the following activities were carried out:
- Environment and Citizenship – students from the clubs of the 5 Secondary schools covered by the “Environment and Citizenship” project, namely: Josina Machel, Polana, Estrela Vermelha, Eduardo Mondlane and Francisco Manyanga received lectures on the electoral process in Mozambique (general and municipal elections) , taught by AMOR technicians.
- Project of Selective Collection and Environmental Education – students from the environmental clubs of the 10 primary schools of Nhlamankulo District, namely: Unidade 7, Mincadjuine, 21 Outubro, 25 Junho, Unidade 16, Amilcar Cabral, Unidade 13, Unidade 18, Unidade 19 and Communitária de Chamanculo D, on Saturday, April 28, participated in the first community awareness event (cleaning day), in the neighborhood of Chamanculo C that brought together neighborhood structures, residents and teachers. The same activity was marked by recreational moments. Another activity was the Solid Waste resuscitation session at Unidade 13, where students learn to make pen-holders with (roll of toilet paper and cardboard).
- Biocarvão – the AMOR-Tânia Nhantumbo Operational Director in the company of the Project Manager of the South-Fatima Isequiel area visited the beneficiary groups of the Vilankulo biocarbon project to become involved in the project activities where they witnessed several experiments in the groups and in the campus of experiments of the JAM that prove the potential of the bio-coal to increase the productivity of the sandy soils of Vilankulo. In the Airport group one of the members was congratulated and offered a watering can by the Director of AMOR in recognition of their effort and success in using biochar.
- In addition to the activities described above on April 6, the Hotel Cardoso conference room in Maputo was organized by AMOR through the existing partnership between GIZ and CDM, the Launching of the Feasibility Study of Partnership between GIZ and CDM on the Management of the Post-Consumption Glass in Maputo and Matola where participants from the Local Government, NGOs, Waste Operators and Private Sector were present.
