Summary of Activities – April – Maputo

Regarding the Innovative Projects of Civil Society and Coalition of Actors Strengthening the Dialogue between Civil Society and the Maputo Municipal Council in Solid Waste Management, financed by the French Embassy through PISSCA, the following activities took place in April:

1 . Analysis of the quality of Ecological Soap in the Laboratory

As a continuation of the implementation of the production of Ecological Soap, in April the quality of the Soap was analyzed.

According to the results of the National Laboratory of Water and Food Hygiene (LNHAA) of the Ministry of Health, the ecological soap samples submitted to testing comply with the requirements established for domestic use. In the analysis of the parameters it was verified that this soap presents sensitivity for the bacteria mentioned, which means that the bacteria mentioned E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella Enteritidis, that cause disease are inhibited by the concentrations of ecological soap indicated in the results.

2 . Monitoring of the operation of the Ecopoints

As part of AMOR’s monitoring of the three ecopoints under the responsibility of the ASSCODECHA, KUTENGA and MAKTEL BACISSA micro-enterprises, during April 2019 a total of 469 kg of solid waste was collected.

3. Delivery of protection and production materials to associations

Due to safety and quality in the production process of Ecological Soap and BIO-COAL, in April the delivery of production and protection materials to members of the Associations was made.

Materials such as boots, gloves, masks, goggles and uniforms were listed as IPE – Individual Protection Equipment. For the production of Ecological Soap was delivered a mixing machine, electronic scales, sodium hydroxide or caustic soda, powdered soap and buckets. For the production of Bio-Coal were given drums, 50kg bags, metal forms, rakes and construction shovels.
