Summary of Activities – February – Maputo

During the month of February, we resumed our activities in the projects:

  • Revitalization of the Environment and Citizenship Clubs in the 5 schools of the City of Maputo, within the ambit of the project “Environment and Citizenship”, which aims to promote the awareness of citizenship in students so that they become proactive in society using the environmental side.
  • Allusive to the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the Polana Secondary School City of Maputo, on February 16, 2018, the students of the Environment and Citizenship – CACs club took advantage of the opportunity to exhibit various objects produced from solid waste.
  • We contacted 10 primary schools in the Chamanculo District to create environmental clubs under the “Selective Collection and Environmental Education Project in the Chamanculo District”, which aims to develop awareness and activities related to environmental education.
  • Under the partnership between PRODEM and AMOR under the responsibility of the Ministry of State Administration and Public Administration with the support of the Embassy of Denmark, Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland, the didactic material was donated to the Medium Institute of Physical and Environmental Planning and received by the Director -Cornélio Laisse in order to contribute to the continuity of this activity as well as to strengthen the training of the future IMPFA technicians trained in the first course on Solid Waste Management in the Country. This material includes: buckets, large and small scales, kit first aid kits, character masking apparatuses, tape rolls glues, waste bag rollers, markers, notebooks, metric tapes, character rakes, pairs of rubber gloves, reflective covers, tarpaulins, tables, Technical Campaign Manual of Characterization and 5 reports of Campaign for Characterization of Solid Waste of Pemba and 5 of Lichinga and was used in the Characterization Campaigns carried out in 5 municipalities: Nampula, Pemba, Nacala, Lichinga and Quelimane.
